ONE REQUIREMENT, THREE POSSIBLE ROUTES

Keep the design—or plan the change.

Tell us which constraints are fixed before considering another part.

01 / SOURCE

The exact component

For maintenance, a fixed BOM or a production shortage. Include the complete suffix, minimum usable quantity, date-code limits and permitted delivery splits.

Quotation checkpoint

Source evidence, condition, lot details, quantity, price and delivery—subject to confirmation.

Request exact-part sourcing →
02 / EVALUATE

A qualified alternative

When another part is possible, define the function, footprint, power rails, interfaces, temperature range and software constraints.

Engineering checkpoint

A comparison of differences and validation work. Similar function does not establish drop-in compatibility.

Request an alternative review →
03 / REBUILD

A revised board or assembly

If the original platform cannot be sustained, bring the BOM, board revision and acceptance requirements into a PCB/PCBA project review.

Manufacturing checkpoint

Agree design responsibility, DFM, component supply and programming or test scope before a build.

MANUFACTURER NOTICE DESK

Dates that affect a sourcing decision.

Curated original-source summaries. Notice dates and our source-review dates are separate; historical deadlines do not indicate current availability.

Selected NXP legacy devices: final delivery date passed

The notice covers specific orderable parts, including MC14489BDWE and MC56F8002VWL. These rows list no replacement. Ask for an application review rather than assuming an equivalent device.

Historical V-package migration: retain the original conditions

For XC7VX330T-2FFV1761C, the notice lists XC7VX330T-2FFG1761C as its historical replacement. Retain the notice and referenced package-change conditions; this does not establish current stock, current lifecycle or qualification of your board.

MAKE THE REQUIREMENT REVIEWABLE

Ask for evidence before committing.

For the sourcing quotation

  • Identity: full MPN, package, grade and permitted suffixes.
  • Supply condition: original packaging, condition, date code, lot and source documentation requested.
  • Acceptance: inspection or test method, sample size, reporting and rejection criteria agreed in writing.
  • Commercials: confirmed quantity, unit price, currency, delivery basis, quote validity and return terms.
  • Schedule: required date, destination and whether partial deliveries help.

No supplier relationship, component authenticity certification or test coverage is implied by a listing. The evidence and accepted scope belong in the quotation.

Check BOM completeness →

For a proposed replacement

  • Physical: package dimensions, footprint and pin mapping.
  • Electrical: rails, I/O levels, timing and thermal limits.
  • Functional: logic resources, memory, transceivers and interfaces.
  • Design impact: firmware, FPGA tools, configuration, layout and test changes.
  • Qualification: application validation, lifecycle and customer approval.

Keep the original manufacturer recommendation with its conditions. A cross-reference is a starting point for review.

WHEN SOURCING CHANGES THE BOARD

Connect the component decision to the build.

A different package or device can change routing, power, programming and acceptance tests. Bring those changes into the same manufacturing brief.

BEFORE YOU SEND A REQUEST

Hard-to-find sourcing questions

Can I request a part that is not in the FPGA.io catalogue?

Yes. Send the complete manufacturer ordering number, manufacturer name and required quantity. Include a source document if the part uses an unusual designation. Catalogue coverage does not determine whether an enquiry can be reviewed.

Do you have these obsolete parts in stock?

This page does not publish live stock. The examples explain documented lifecycle cases. Availability, price, source conditions and delivery must be confirmed for the exact part and quantity in your quotation.

My production is stopped. What should I include first?

State the exact MPN, minimum quantity needed to restart, destination and required delivery date. Tell us whether split deliveries are useful and whether alternatives are allowed. Do not remove traceability or acceptance requirements to shorten the enquiry.

Does NRND mean a component is already discontinued?

Not necessarily. TI distinguishes “not recommended for new designs” from last-time-buy and obsolete states. Check the manufacturer's status for the exact orderable part and its notice dates; temporary scarcity is a separate supply question. TI lifecycle definitions ↗

Can an alternative be used without changing the PCB?

Only after the relevant compatibility checks and your approval. A similar function or manufacturer cross-reference alone does not establish matching pins, electrical behavior, firmware, FPGA configuration or thermal performance. Some alternatives require a board revision.

How do I specify traceability and inspection?

Tell us the source documentation, lot/date-code records, condition and acceptance evidence you require. Any inspection, electrical test, third-party work or reporting scope must be agreed before purchase. A quoted scope may contain exclusions; review these with your quality team.

Can you support a small maintenance quantity or an unusual component?

Submit the requirement for review. Minimum quantities and viable sourcing routes depend on the exact component and available lot. We cannot promise that every discontinued part can be found.

YOUR REVIEW OUTPUT

Compare offers without losing the acceptance conditions.

Use one row per exact-code offer. This is an original enquiry worksheet, not a representation of available inventory.

Offer comparison inputs · editorial update October 20, 2026
Record separatelyQuestion to resolveKeep open until confirmed
Exact identity and permitted changesDoes the offer match every character of the required MPN, or is it a proposed alternative?Any difference in package, grade, speed or special suffix needs its own disposition.
Quantity and delivery windowWhat quantity can be offered for the required date, and are split deliveries acceptable?A quotation request or old listing is not a confirmed allocation.
Lot, condition and documentationWhich lot/date-code, condition and source records are included in this particular offer?Ask what is unavailable; do not assume the same records accompany every lot.
Inspection and acceptanceWhich inspection or test outputs are proposed, what are the exclusions, and who accepts the result?A planned test is not a completed test or a guarantee of application suitability.

Keep a supplier’s commercial offer separate from the board change record. If an alternative is allowed, retain the original BOM code, candidate code, applicable manufacturer documents and the engineering verification owner. Comparing prices before aligning these conditions can hide differences that matter more than the unit price.

For an archived example of why table roles matter, XCN20011 v1.0, page 2, Table 4 distinguishes affected and replacement ordering codes. Its historical relationship does not establish the availability or acceptance evidence of a current offer. Source scope rechecked October 20, 2026.
